Why I Write, Part x+87: Donne and Dickinson

John Donne needn't question how his poems make time,
How to set his conceits over meter and rhyme,
Nor must Dickinson question her metaphors, themes,
The length of her poems, and not her rhyme schemes.
From the opening song to the benediction,
The greats write with ultimate inspired conviction.
If you put all the poets on old Noah's raft,
I'd be writing so I could move forward from aft.
