Lend or Borrow

Lend or borrow, take a look:
There is no Frigate like a Book
(Read over months or in a day)
To take us Lands away,
Or to another age.
Nor any Coursers like a Page,
An existential mystery,
Of prancing Poetry,
Rising from dead trees like ladies from lakes.
This Traverse may the poorest take,
In spirit or whole,
Without oppress of Toll.
How frugal is the Chariot,
How delicate the flagpole
That flies a Human soul!

  1. Prompt: pick a poem you like and make a new poem by adding lines of your own, alternating with the original poem.

This is a desecration of Emily Dickinson's "There is no Frigate like a Book."
