I never thought myself a materialist,
But after a fire drill, I find myself rethinking this.
The idea is to stand up and head for the stairs,
But the thought of just leaving my laptop in there,
Or my MP3 player? That thing is brand new,
As are my sunglasses. I'd take my hat, too.
I can't leave a jacket my parents gave me,
and it's so hard to find decent headphones like these.
It's not the cost of the things that's foremost in my mind,
It just seems like a waste leaving good things behind.
