At the End

Cast out at the end to live in disgrace,
Hide the delta of tear-dried streambeds on my face,
I could not by my self and my circumstance doubt
When two men arrived, pockets full, seeking me out
As an ally against the source of my shame
Offering vengeance and repair to my name.
So I go back to work, if not with a smile.
You only live once, though it may take a while.

  1. This is one of the poetry prompt poems. It asked me to write about a scene in my favorite movie, from the perspective of one of the characters. I decided on the Miracle Man from his scene in The Princess Bride. I'm not a fan of the poem.
