Why I Write, Part x+58: I Think in Metaphors

It's true that I think in metaphors
More often than I write,
Like I doubt my friends' intelligence,
An unintended slight.

The truth is, my words are tenative, young.
They cannot catch my thoughts.
Maybe I overpracticed at starting to think,
But a finisher I'm not.

Or maybe I'm on a subconcious quest
To map and pave a way
For men who are poets, and poets of men
Who mean just what they say.
