Comparison Scars

It took me years, but I learned – comparison scars,
'Cause that's what everyone wants to hear –
“You're just like the last one,”
Or maybe all the ways you're far from...
We flail about with simile, the morningstar.
Each one we make seems unfavorable. It cuts and breaks.
It is unyielding, and thus, it doesn't give. It takes.
It is a selfish aid to our own understanding;
To others, it's a long fall for a snowflake, with a hard landing.
