I always consider you in the abstract,
In terms of the qualities, the vital
stats
One of us has convinced me you have,
and not as a sum of a future and past,
Of circumstances and experience and
acts,
Of similar lives seen with two
different eyes,
and once I noticed this, I realized
I've only known you bite by bite.
My view of you was thusly sized.
To treat you thus, I can't reprise,
Which is too bad. That was my favorite
part,
and I wouldn't care now if I'd cared
from the start.
