A candle casts brightness and shadow
with flame.
No two are in shape or in burn-time the
same,
And if we are candles, we aren't shaped
by a mold.
We're tall, skinny or thick, young,
smooth, melting, or old,
and as candles, our flame may be
brighter at times,
and when we burn brightest, we call it
“our prime.”
We don't know when that is, and that's
why I write,
Make the best of my words before life
dims the lights.
