The soft light of pride puts a glow on
the face.
Shoulders confident, broad, there to
carry the load
For hands volunteered to be worked to
the bone,
A heart that beats with belief in the
dream
That this nation can be what the ads
make it seem,
A waist broadening dammed, so that
doubts cannot rise
Above strong redwood legs that support
growing size,
A learned, vital strength, from the
head to the feet –
This is the kind of anatomy the patriot
needs.
