Love's like calling the DJ, requesting
a song:
You can't quite get the lyrics. Your
tune's a bit wrong.
You know what you want, but don't know
how to say it.
You're hoping someone on the other end
can play it.
Love's like a road trip if you tend to
lose maps.
You can turn around, or screw up, have
a laugh.
Love's an in-ground pool of want and
venal sin,
And the tile's wet. If you don't
leave, you'll slip and fall in.
Love's like an aggressively microwaved
meal
Put your tongue to it soon, and the
burn's all you'll feel.
Love is like a novel you'll find in a
bookstore –
Invented by some ambitious author.
Prompt: write a poem comparing love to anything you like.
ReplyDeleteSometimes working from the lesson book yields exercises and sometimes it yields real poems. This is definitely a real poem.
