I can fathom God's unseen hand in the
now-invisible past,
Or even feel it (though I always expect
each thing I feel to be the last),
and occasionally I sense his presence
in a moment yet to come,
In shaping or just being near the deeds
that will be done,
and such encounters are enough to
strike with awe those unprepared,
But most meaningful to meet with God is
not when you're not there.
I can't live in pasts or futures; I
cannot fathom why or how.
I like it best when God's where I am –
wholly both relaxed and now.
